FAQs

How do I access my purchase?

Once your payment is confirmed, you will receive a confirmation email containing links to download each purchased listing. Alternatively, click on My Account in the top right corner of the site and follow the Downloads link.

What do I get with my purchase?

Each listing here at DonVitoDesign contains files in SVG, EPS, DXF, JPEG, and PNG format, compressed into a zipped folder for ease of downloading

What is a zipped file, and how do I open it?

Everything you purchase here will come to you in a compressed format, otherwise known as a zipped file. Compressed files take up less storage space, and can be transferred to you more quickly and efficiently than uncompressed files.
Opening your zipped file will vary depending on the computer system you use, so we’ve broken it down here for you:

  • Mac
Your purchase can be found in your browser in the Downloads folder. Simply double-click the zipped folder to open it and reveal the uncompressed files within. You can then copy the files and save them to your desktop or any folder on your computer.
  • Windows 7, 8.1, and 10
Locate the zipped folder that you want to unzip (extract) files or folders from.
    Do one of the following:
    – To unzip a single file or folder, open the zipped folder, then drag the file or folder from the zipped folder to a new location.
    – To unzip all the contents of the zipped folder, press and hold (or right-click) the folder, select Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

Are your designs layered? How do I work with each layer?

Many of the designs sold here consist of two or more layers. You will always be able to tell which designs have multiple layers, as they will have multiple colors. For example, listings shown with five colors will have five layers, and listings shown in one color are just one cut.

  • Cricut Design Space

Once you have opened the SVG file on your design mat, click on the Layers Panel.
Click anywhere in the design to select it. This will highlight all of the individual layers in the Layers Panel.
With the layers still highlighted, click the Ungroup button on the bottom of the Panel.
You can now work with each layer individually.
Remember, if you plan to resize your design, you must do so before ungrouping, so everything remains in proportion.

  • Silhouette Studio Designer Edition

Once you have opened the SVG file on your design mat, select Edit, Layers in the top menu bar. This will open the layers menu on the right side of the screen.
You will see that there is a main layer, with a series of layers detailed below. Click on each layer to move it individually.
More complex designs may have sub-groups within the layers, particularly ones with multiple layers of the same color. If this is the case, you will see that one of the of the layers will be labeled Group on the panel. When you click on these layers on the design mat, simply right-click to further ungroup and reveal the sub-layers below.
Remember, if you plan to resize your design, you must do so before ungrouping, so everything remains in proportion.

Do you offer coupons?

I unzipped my download and I don’t see an SVG file. Where is it?

You will see five files in your download – what are they called? Often, computers that aren’t familiar with SVG files (i.e., they don’t have the native software that made them, such as Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape), the computer system will call them something else. Generally, they call them Chrome, Safari, or Explorer files, because they can be previewed on the internet this way. Do you see a file with one of those extensions?

If your SVG file is showing up as a Chrome HTML Doc file (or Safari, Explorer, or any other internet file type), this means your file association for SVG files is set to show as Chrome in your computer system. This is a setting on your computer. In order to change this, you need to google how to change file association for your particular operating system (Apple, PC, etc).

How do I upload files to my cutting software?

  • Cricut Design Space

After you have extracted your files, save the SVG file in a convenient location.
Open Cricut Design Space, and select the blue “Create New Project” button, or click File, New.
Click the Upload Images button on the left vertical panel.
Click the blue Upload Image button on the next screen.
Click the blue Browse button, and select the SVG file you have saved.
Important Note: you will see that there are a number of file types that you can load, including JPEG files. It is important NOT to load a JPEG file, as these are not vector files and as such, do not contain cutting lines. The same goes for DXF files. While these are cutting files, they are not as high quality as the SVG files included in your purchase. In Design Space, you should ALWAYS use SVG files.
Click the green Save button on the bottom right of the screen.
Your file is now saved to your library. If you would like to use it right away, simply select the thumbnail and click the Insert Images button on the bottom right.

  • Silhouette Studio Basic Edition

After you have extracted your files, save the DXF file in a convenient location.
Open Silhouette Studio, and select File, Import, Import to Library from the top menu.

To access the file in the future, select File, Library from the top menu bar. You will see the file in your My Own Designs folder.

Open Silhouette Studio, and select File, Import, Import to Library from the top menu.
Navigate to the location where you saved your files, and select the SVG file.
